Rearranging

As I've mentioned before, the CatMan and I rent the 2nd and 3rd floors in an old farmhouse. About 10 years ago, we moved our seating/TV watching area up to the third floor (the same floor that houses our sleeping area, bathroom, and my craft room)and haven't touched it since. Last Sunday right before the Academy Awards, I got the bug to rearrange that space.
After one week, I knew I had to do some serious tweaking to be fully happy with the space. I visited my boyfriends at Lowes to purchase a small, lightweight shelf for our antenna (yep here in VT, there are still areas without cable or high speed innernetz.) My dilemma was how to attach the shelf to the chimney wall. I tried command strips (the grey splotch is where I improperly took off the strip I used to hang a picture there) and then Gorilla Glue. Both epic fails. I finally tried just punching holes in the wall with an awl and using screws/anchor supports. Huh. It worked. I had been under the impression the chimney wall was much more solid than it actually was. Woot!
So here is the cozy space now. After the initial scare, the cats are accustomed to the move and happily lounging in their new location. Oh and the curtain? A lesson learned from my grandmother to keep the heat upstairs and the cold downstairs (or vice versa).
